Richer Sounds & Which Plasma Guide

Which Home Cinema Guide

While plasma screens aren’t as common a technology as LCD or the newer LED TVs, there’s still much to be said for considering a plasma TV set.

Plasma TVs tend to be cheaper than equivalent-sized LED sets, and traditionally offer superior deep blacks and richer colour distinctions when compared to LCD TVs, and they handle smooth motion very well.

Plasma screens also tend to have superior viewing angles than LCD panels – this can be an important consideration if you’re setting your TV up in a particularly wide living room. With some sets, the TV can look great when you’re head-on to it, but picture quality can suffer when you’re viewing it from a sharper angle – plasma technology tends to suffer less from this issue.

The downside to plasma screens is that they typically consume much more power when switched on if you compare them to the more efficient LCD or LED TVs. Given that plasma TVs tend to only come in larger screen sizes, this can make a noticeable difference to your energy bills over time.
