Bringing together a perfectly matched AV receiver and speaker pack, the Onkyo HTS3405 gives you quality, separates sound with one-box convenience.
The separate AV receiver comes with two key features that make it ideal for the modern day home cinema. Firstly, all four HDMI inputs and the HDMI output are all 3D compatible. This means that you can connect all your 3D sources up to the HTS3405 and effortlessly switch between them. Secondly, the latest and most powerful processing has always been at the heart of Onkyo's receivers, and the HTS3405 is no different. It will handle high-definition lossless audio codecs from Dolby and DTS. This high resolution surround sound processing makes it the perfect partner for Blu-ray, with all the potential for high definition audio excellence this source provides.
Matching this impressive receiver to perfection is a tailored Onkyo speaker package. With acoustically balanced speakers all round, the 8cm cone speakers offer a detailed and dynamic sound quality. For added oomph, the passive subwoofer features a downward firing 16cm with bass reflex cabinet.
In terms of sound quality, the Onkyo HTS3405 is well ahead of its one-box opponents. Burr-Brown 192/24 DACs for all channels, an advanced 32-Bit Processing Chip and a high power transformer help to give the HT-S3405 class-leading sound quality and an equally impressive 85 watts power output (8 ohms, dynamic power output). Furthermore, the latest Onkyo AV package also comes complete with Audyssey Dynamic Volume and EQ for a more consistent sound quality. One of their functions is to level the sound during commercial breaks, meaning an end to the intrusive ramped-up blare of adverts on commercial TV.
It's not just in the area of sound quality that the HTS3405 trounces its one-box rivals, either. In terms of connectivity, this Onkyo system is in another league. With four HDMI inputs, the HTS3405 is better connected than ever and also comes with an Audio Return Channel. Audio Return means that sound from the TV's tuner is routed back down the single cable from receiver to TV, cutting down the cable clutter. Added to this are a wide range of other sockets including twin component inputs for older DVD players and three digital audio inputs. Also, there's Onkyo's unique and flexible Universal Port. Match to Onkyo's optional iPod dock or DAB+ tuner modules and you've got even greater entertainment potential.
Finally, one of the features we like most about the Onkyo AV receivers is how easy they are to set up. An overlaid On-Screen Display makes adjusting settings straight-forward while the simple menu logically takes you through the fine-tuning of your system.
If you already have a Blu-ray player and/or PS3/X-Box and want the sound to match the picture's potential, the Onkyo HT-S3405 is your new and improved one stop shop.
