With a new, improved screen, the Toshiba 22DV501 is better than ever!

Offering a 15% improvement in screen brightness over the previous DV500 model, the Toshiba 22DV501 offers greater realism and a brighter image. Especially noticeably when watching in a brightly lit room but beneficial at all times, the 22DV501 offers clear step up. As before, the HD Ready screen offers fine detail and a great sense of realism. Deep blacks and convincing grey scale provides excellent contrast and a sense of depth that's often lacking in budget TVs. With a response time of just 5m/s, the 22DV501 is also a good deal faster to respond than many its rivals, meaning less motion blur and clearer images of fast moving events. Similarly, the DVD player is also from the top draw. Toshiba have an enviable reputation for producing some of the best selling and most highly reviewed DVD players of the past 15 years. The natural, smooth and stable images from this DVD player show the electronics giant hasn't lost its touch.

In terms of sound quality, the 22DV501 is similarly ahead of the crowd. The 5 watts amplifier might not sound very powerful but, for its class, it's actually quite a lot! This gives the stereo speakers a little more grunt to work with than the average 22 inch TV. Having both a headphone socket and digital optical output gives the 22DV501 further flexibility.

In addition to the built-in DVD player, this Toshiba combi comes with a generous selection of sockets. There's an HDMI for HD games console, Blu-ray or HD TV box, component for Wii, SCART for older sources such as VCR and a PC input, making this combi ideal as a dual use TV and monitor. The final flourish is a USB socket that enables you to view photos and listen to music via the TV.

For a top performance from a top brand, the Toshiba 22DV501 is the clear class leader.
